Nick Akers has both undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemistry from Saint Louis University. During his graduate work with Dr. Shelley Minteer, their research on enzyme stabilization resulted in multiple publications and patents with commercial interest. Nick co-founded Akermin, Inc. with Dr. Minteer to commercialize this research for applications in portable power and industrial gas processing.
Nick successfully raised multiple rounds of venture capital investment and grant funding. He built a team of highly skilled scientists, and introduced Akermin’s products to multiple customers. His entrepreneurial activities have been recognized through both local and national awards, and he has served on the board of the Missouri Venture Forum, Family Violence Center, and the Saint Louis University College of Arts and Science Executive Advisory Board.
Nick Akers recently joined his father-in-law’s successful chemical company, Jost Chemical, as the International Business Development Manager.
